Azerbaijan continues water infrastructure restoration in liberated Aghdam PHOTO
The water supply and irrigation system are being actively restored in Azerbaijan’s Aghdam District, liberated from decades-long Armenian occupation.
The announcement came from the spokesman for the Azerbaijan Amelioration and Water Management company Dilgam Sharifov, Caliber.Az reports.
Ten new sub-artesian wells have been dug by the staff of the Aghdam Mechanical Irrigation Department in Aghdam so far.
In total, 986 sub-artesian wells, four pumping stations, four water collectors, 365 kilometres of irrigation canals, and 236 hydraulic devices are registered on the company’s balance. SCADA systems, a widely distributed computerized system primarily used to remotely control and monitor the condition of field-based assets from a central location, have been installed at 102 sub-artesian wells, with 238 more awaiting installations.
In addition, pumps are being repaired, and earthen water canals are being cleared of silt. In general, 36,000 hectares of sown land are irrigated in Aghdam.
