Azerbaijan, Indonesia seek expansion in energy cooperation
Azerbaijan’s Minister of Energy, Parviz Shahbazov, met with Indonesia’s Ambassador to Baku, Berlian Helmy, to discuss opportunities for expanding cooperation between Azerbaijan and Indonesia in the energy sector, according to the Ministry of Energy.
In this context, prospects for energy cooperation were discussed, focusing on energy security, renewable energy, sustainable development, and measures to enhance business and investment opportunities, Caliber.Az reports.
Special focus placed on continuing crude oil deliveries from Azerbaijan to Indonesia under the framework of energy security, engaging in joint exploration and production projects in the oil and gas sector, and expanding collaboration between SOCAR and Pertamina in petroleum products as well as oil and gas processing.
“It was emphasised that both countries have significant potential for the development of renewable energy resources and cooperation opportunities in wind and solar energy projects, the application of waste energy production technologies, as well as biomass-based energy production were noted,” the ministry said.
Alongside government bodies in the energy sector, the active participation of the private sector in advancing this cooperation was underlined. The parties also agreed to organise the inaugural meeting of the Energy Working Group in the near future.
