Azerbaijan, Italy discuss multifaceted cooperation
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has met with visiting Italian Deputy Foreign Minister Edmondo Cirielli.
During the meeting, the ministers expressed satisfaction with the bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Italy, Caliber.Az reports citing the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
Besides, the parties discussed prospects of a multifaceted strategic partnership between the two countries in political, defence, economic, trade, energy, humanitarian, educational and other spheres.
Italy recognised the independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan on January 1, 1992. Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on May 8, 1992.
Italy is the largest trading partner and largest export point of Azerbaijan. The product-based structure of the foreign trade turnover of the two countries is dominated by exports of crude oil and oil products to Italy. The structure of imports includes machine-building products, special mechanical devices and machines, machine tools, spare parts, as well as medicines, transformers, construction materials, furniture, food and knitwear.
