Azerbaijan lays pipeline by Turkmenistan’s order along Caspian Sea bed PHOTO
The pipe-laying vessel "Suleyman Vazirov" owned by Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO) has completed work on laying an underwater pipeline at the oil field "LAM and ZHDANOV" in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea.
ASCO Spokesman Mehman Mehdiyev made the remarks, adding that the four-inch thick gas pipeline was laid from the LAM-B platform to LAM-C and LAM-28 platforms, Caliber.Az reports.
According to him, work on laying a more than five-kilometre gas pipeline began in March last year.
It should be noted that the pipe-laying vessel “Suleyman Vazirov” with a displacement of 8,900 tons was built in the Netherlands in 1973. Its operation in the Caspian Sea began in 1975.
The pipelayer is not self-propelled, it is driven by tow trucks. Its length is 107 meters, width is 27. The vessel is capable of laying 1200 meters of pipeline per day if the weather conditions are favourable.
