Azerbaijan marks International Children's Day
Today, Azerbaijan celebrates International Children's Day.
Caliber.Az notes that on June 1, 1950, during the International Women's Conference organized by the UN General Assembly, it was decided to dedicate this day to the protection of children. Since then, June 1 has been recognized globally as International Children's Day.
After gaining independence, Azerbaijan joined the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. As in all democratic nations, the protection of children's rights is a top priority in Azerbaijan.
The country has established comprehensive conditions to ensure that children grow up healthy and become responsible citizens. Protecting children's rights is a crucial and inseparable part of human rights. Children represent our future, and the country's future rests in their hands.
The Heydar Aliyev Foundation, inspired by the vision of national leader Heydar Aliyev, actively engages in large-scale initiatives. Mehriban Aliyeva, the First Vice-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, and ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador, is particularly dedicated to supporting children in need of special care and those deprived of parental care.
Ensuring children's rights in the country promotes numerous activities to identify and nurture their talents. The Heydar Aliyev Foundation prioritizes the needs of refugee and IDP families, as well as underprivileged children. Additionally, the foundation undertakes initiatives to integrate children with disabilities into society, ensuring their active participation and inclusion.
