Azerbaijan's approach is simple: peace agenda President's assistant Hajiyev talks to Al Jazeera
Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan, and head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmet Hajiyev gave an interview to the international TV company Al Jazeera, Caliber.Az reports citing Hajiyev's post on X.
"Azerbaijan needs peace and the region needs peace. Therefore, firstly, Azerbaijan's message to local Armenians is that Azerbaijan delivers a message of peace and peaceful reintegration.
Secondly, I think that the Republic of Armenia also needs peace. Armenia should finally stop all these territorial claims, and under certain circumstances, we will have a much better chance for peace.
As for our international partners, nobody can deny that Russia is a regional country and it has historical relations with Armenia and Azerbaijan. So this is also a very important platform to use. The US has provided a platform for discussing the peace treaty in Washington along with the Moscow platform. I think we have made significant progress. And now, instead of looking back, our international partners should look forward. What are the prospects? The same applies to our European partners, the European Union. Sometimes I see that some of our European partners fall under the influence of unnecessary and unfounded propaganda. They should not be like that. They should not be acting in that direction, but contributing to the peace agenda.
The other element is that there are many international actors in the region, and maths shows us that if there are many actors in a formula, it becomes complicated. Sometimes it is much better to have a simple formula. And Azerbaijan's approach is very simple: it is a peace agenda," Hikmet Hajiyev said.
