Azerbaijan showcases its architectural development at forum in Romania PHOTO
Azerbaijan participated as a special guest in the Third Annual Forum of Parliamentary Committees on Legal Affairs of Romania, Moldova, Ukraine, and Albania, which was held from January 22 to 25 in the Romanian city of Moisei, in the Maramureș region.
Within the framework of the event titled “The Rule of Law as the Foundation of European Integration and the Protection of Fundamental Rights,” a photo exhibition dedicated to Azerbaijani architecture was organised in connection with the declaration of 2026 as the “Year of Urban Development and Architecture” in Azerbaijan, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The event was attended by members of parliament and senators from the participating countries, the leadership of Romania’s Prosecutor General’s Office and Supreme Court, representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Romania, as well as lawyers and public and political figures.
The photographs on display reflected the dynamic development of Azerbaijan’s urban environment and architectural landscape, particularly in the Karabakh region, showcasing examples of modern urban transformation. At the same time, the exhibition also drew attention to the mine contamination problem in Azerbaijan.
Speaking at the opening of the exhibition, Ambassador Gudsi Osmanov spoke about relations between Azerbaijan and Romania, ongoing projects between the two countries, as well as planned mutual visits and events.
The diplomat recalled that the 13th session of the United Nations World Urban Forum will be held in Baku in May of this year and emphasised that international events hosted in Azerbaijan play an important role in strengthening cooperation in the region and in developing political, economic, and cultural ties between countries. Drawing attention to the large-scale restoration and reconstruction efforts being carried out in Azerbaijan based on modern urban planning principles, particularly in the Karabakh region, he noted that the peace and stability established in the region as a result of the historic victory in the 44-day Patriotic War had created favourable and secure conditions for the implementation of international logistics and transport projects.
At the opening of the exhibition, Romanian Senator Cristian-Augustin Niculescu-Țâgârlaș also delivered remarks. He is Deputy Chairman of the parliamentary faction of the ruling National Liberal Party (PNL), an active member of Romania’s delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, and a member of the Romania–Azerbaijan interparliamentary friendship group.
He spoke about the relations between the two countries, built on the basis of mutually beneficial and strategic partnership, and recalled his visit to Azerbaijan in August last year, particularly to the cities of Khankendi and Shusha in the Karabakh region. The senator described the large-scale construction works he witnessed in Karabakh and the comprehensive development process underway in the region, emphasising Azerbaijan’s leading role in international logistics and transport projects in the area.
