Azerbaijan showcases tombstone of founder and first ruler of Karabakh khanate PHOTO
The tombstone of the founder and first ruler of the Karabakh khanate, founder of Shusha city Panah Ali Khan Javanshir (1693-1763) has been showcased at the event at the Azerbaijani National Museum of History.
Director-General of the Azerbaijani National Museum of History, Academician Naila Valikhanli, Vice-Presidents of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), Academician Isa Habibbayli, Academician Govkhar Bakhshaliyeva, Executive Director of the Museum, Associate Professor Farhad Jabbarov, senior members of the Presidium of ANAS, journalists and public representatives attended the event, according to Report.
Academician Naila Valikhanli spoke about the importance of the event. She noted that the Azerbaijani National Museum of History has been systematically collecting, researching and promoting a rich collection related to the history and culture of the Karabakh region and Shusha city recently.
Vice President of ANAS, academician Isa Habibbayli noted that this exhibition is important from social, political and historical points of view.
He stressed that the presentation of the tombstone of Panah Ali Khan Javanshir to the public for the first time after restoration is a historical event.
The inscriptions and ornaments of the tombstone were cleaned by using modern methods in the restoration laboratory of the museum without causing damage to the original, and the damaged places were restored.
