Azerbaijan, Slovenia eye deeper trade ties at upcoming business forum
Baku is gearing up to host an Azerbaijan-Slovenia business forum on April 17, marking a key step in strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries.
The event will coincide with the official visit of Slovenia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Tanja Fajon, Caliber.Az reports via domestic media.
The forum will bring together leading companies from both nations, with a focus on dynamic sectors such as information and communication technologies, unmanned marine vessels, maritime transport automation, construction, and metal structure production.
In parallel with the forum, the first meeting of the Azerbaijan-Slovenia Joint Working Group on Economic Cooperation is scheduled to take place — a move signaling both sides' intent to deepen trade and investment ties.
Supported by the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Agency (AZPROMO) and the Ministry of Economy, the event will also include discussions aimed at expanding bilateral business opportunities and facilitating new investment ventures.
Despite a drop in trade volume in 2024 — a 24.47% decline to $30.08 million — recent figures indicate a sharp rebound. In the first two months of 2025, bilateral trade surged by 67% year-on-year, reaching $7.53 million. Azerbaijani exports to Slovenia rose by 66.08% to $2.02 million, while imports from Slovenia increased by 67.34% to $5.51 million.
The forum is expected to provide a platform for revitalizing economic ties and unlocking new avenues of cooperation between Baku and Ljubljana.
