Azerbaijan, South Africa hold political consultations
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has met with Deputy Minister for International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa Alvin Botes.
During the meeting, an exchange of views was held on issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation, regional and world events, cooperation within the framework of combating challenges, APA was told at the Foreign Ministry.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted with satisfaction the existence of cooperation between the two countries in a number of political, economic and humanitarian areas, despite the fact that Azerbaijan and South Africa are located in geographically remote regions, and drew attention to the importance of making efforts to further develop relations. The importance of strengthening cooperation not only within the framework of bilateral relations, but also within the framework of international organizations, in particular the United Nations (UN) and the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), was emphasized.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also informed Alvin Botes about the new realities in the region, Azerbaijan's peacekeeping efforts, as well as the restoration and construction work carried out in the territories liberated from occupation as a result of Azerbaijan's ensuring its territorial integrity after the 44-day Patriotic War.
Deputy Minister Alvin Botes provided detailed information on the political consultations held between the Foreign Ministries of Azerbaijan and South Africa on October 24, 2022 in Baku. Noting that in a very difficult period, Azerbaijan, as Chairman of the NAM, made efforts to enhance the role of the Movement, the Deputy Minister recalled with gratitude the assistance provided by Azerbaijan to developing countries, including countries located on the African continent, especially during the pandemic.
Alvin Botes said that South Africa attaches great importance to the further development of cooperation with Azerbaijan. In this regard, the importance of strengthening the legal framework for the development of economic relations was emphasized. The Deputy Minister drew attention to the importance of joint actions, including South-South cooperation, to improve the effectiveness of international organizations in the fight against modern challenges and threats. Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed during the meeting.
Political consultations were held between the Foreign Ministries of Azerbaijan and South Africa on October 24, 2022. At the consultations, the delegation of Azerbaijan was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Fariz Rzayev, and the delegation of South Africa was headed by Deputy Minister for International Relations and Cooperation Alvin Botes. Within the framework of political consultations, a number of issues in the areas of cooperation were discussed.
