Azerbaijan, Türkiye enhance military-technical cooperation at high-level dialogue
The 16th Azerbaijani-Turkish High-Level Military Dialogue Meeting took place in Ankara, further cementing the deep-rooted ties between the two nations.
A delegation led by Azerbaijan's Deputy Minister of Defense and Director General, Agil Gurbanov, participated in the event. As part of their visit, the delegation paid homage to two key figures symbolizing the enduring relationship between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, Caliber.Az reports via Azerbaijani Defence Ministry.
On December 18, the Azerbaijani officials visited Heydar Aliyev Park in Ankara, where they laid flowers at the monument of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, honouring his legacy. Later, the delegation visited Anıtkabir, the mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Türkiye, laying a wreath at his grave and paying their respects.
The delegation was accompanied by representatives from the Azerbaijani Embassy in Türkiye and the military attaché office.
Key discussions were held during the visit, including meetings between Director General Gurbanov and Türkiye’s Minister of National Defense, Yaşar Güler, as well as Army General Metin Gürak, Chief of the General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces. The leaders highlighted the positive impact of the two countries' friendly and fraternal ties on their military cooperation and expressed confidence in further strengthening this collaboration.
Extensive discussions focused on enhancing military, military-technical, and military-educational cooperation, along with exploring new areas of mutual interest.
The 16th Azerbaijani-Turkish High-Level Military Dialogue officially commenced with an opening ceremony attended by both delegations. Meetings of various Sub-Working Groups were held to address specific areas of cooperation, showcasing a commitment to advancing strategic ties.
Notably, the Azerbaijani-Turkish High-Level Military Dialogue is a significant framework for bilateral defence cooperation between Azerbaijan and Türkiye. Established in 2007, this annual dialogue alternates between the two countries and encompasses various aspects of military collaboration, including military-technical, military-educational, and logistical support.
