Azerbaijani FM, UNESCO reps discuss COP29, regional situation

On May 1, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with permanent representatives of UNESCO member countries, as well as heads of the UNESCO National Commissions of Türkiye, Russia, the United Kingdom and Malta, who are in our country to participate in the 6th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue.

The meeting discussed cooperation issues within UNESCO, preparations for the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) and the current regional situation, the Foreign Ministry told Caliber.Az.

Bayramov noted that international projects implemented within the framework of the Baku Process initiated by Azerbaijan, as well as the World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue, show the importance our country attaches to cultural diversity and the republic's contribution to the development of cooperation in this direction.

The minister expressed satisfaction with the implementation of the above projects together with international partners, including UNESCO.

Bayramov told the participants of the meeting about Azerbaijan's efforts to normalise relations with Armenia in the post-conflict period, to ensure peace in the region, restore cultural heritage that was destroyed during the occupation.

The minister informed the meeting participants about our country's foreign policy priorities and Baku's position on several regional issues.
