Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Louis Bono, the chief advisor of the US State Department on Caucasus negotiations have discussed the regional situation, as well as the normalisation process with Armenia.
During the meeting, the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the current situation in the region, the current situation and the prospects of negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia were discussed, Caliber.Az reported on August 3, citing the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
Bayramov drew attention to the fact that, contrary to its obligations, Armenia does not completely withdraw its armed forces from the territories of Azerbaijan, continues its claims against Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and sovereignty, and obstructs the opening of communications, which does not serve peace and stability in the region.
At the same time, Bayramov emphasized that the allegations that Azerbaijan keeps Armenian residents under blockade and that the Lachin border crossing point is "illegitimate" are groundless.
Taking into account Armenia's provocations on the Lachin road and the border crossing point, it was once again mentioned that Azerbaijan's proposal to use the Aghdam-Khankandi road to help Armenian residents remains valid.
It was also stated that the intervention of Armenia in the efforts of the Azerbaijani side to reintegrate the Armenian residents is unacceptable.
The parties also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
