Azerbaijani, Israeli officials discuss ongoing developments in Caucasus, Middle East
Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on special assignments Elchin Amirbayov and Political Director at the Israeli Foreign Ministry Aliza Bin Noun have discussed the situation in the South Caucasus and the Middle East.
“Had a friendly meeting with my friend, Ambassador Elchin Amirbayov, the Representative of the President for Special Assignments. The discussion encompassed the main bilateral and regional issues, with particular attention to the ongoing developments in the Caucasus and the M.E,” Caliber.Az reports citing Bin Noun’s message on X.
Moreover, Amirbayov said that the opening of the Zangezur corridor would help Armenia not only improve relations with Türkiye, but also receive additional revenues from transit fees.
Amirbayov made these remarks in an interview with the German “Zeit” newspaper, according to Report.
“This way Armenia could also overcome its isolation. If Yerevan refuses the highway and railway through Zangezur, Azerbaijan will build a similar route through Iran. Azerbaijan can build a highway and railway further south through Iran and it would be only ten kilometres longer,” he added.
