Azerbaijani MFA: Macron is tool in hands of Armenian lobby in France
The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry has said that President Emmanuel Macron is a tool of the Armenian lobby in France.
The ministry made the statement in reponse French President Emmanuel Macron, who once again spoke out against Azerbaijan and unilaterally defended Armenia, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
According to the ministry, the remarks voiced by the French leader at a meeting with the Armenian community in Marseille do not reflect reality and are unacceptable.
“Allegations that Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev was pressured are a figment of French President Macron's imagination. Attempts to put pressure on the Azerbaijani president have never been successful. In his activities, President Ilham Aliyev has always successfully defended the national interests of the Republic of Azerbaijan based on the norms and principles of international law,” the ministry said.
“President Macron's statement once again shows that he is a tool in the hands of the French Armenian lobby. The representative of the Armenian community, whom he tried to give an explanation, is one of those radical persons against whom Armenia has imposed an entry ban.”
“Amid Armenia's support for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and the recognition of the Karabakh region as an integral part of Azerbaijan, such biased statements of President Macron prevent the establishment of peace and tranquillity in the region and encourage the expansion of the destructive activities of those who encourage and support separatism and terrorism,” it added.
