Azerbaijani MFA says trilateral meeting in Tbilisi - initial stage in building trust
The trilateral meeting that took place between the deputy foreign ministers of Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Armenia in Tbilisi is seen as an initial stage in building trust, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry has said.
“The purpose of the meeting is to develop trilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest in order to promote sustainable prosperity in the region,” Caliber.Az quotes the Ministry as saying.
The Ministry said cooperation in this format could contribute to addressing common challenges and, as a result, to the long-term stability and development of the region.
“The meeting, held in an atmosphere of open exchange, included the presentation of visions regarding potential areas of cooperation. It took place in a positive and constructive environment and is regarded as an initial step in building trust,” the statement read.
To note, on April 17, at the initiative of the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Armenia — Jeyhun Bayramov, Maka Botchorishvili, and Ararat Mirzoyan — a meeting was held between the deputy foreign ministers of the three countries in Georgia’s capital, Tbilisi.
The deputy foreign ministers — Elnur Mammadov (Azerbaijan), Lasha Darsalia (Georgia), and Vahan Kostanyan (Armenia) — welcomed the holding of the first trilateral meeting among South Caucasus countries and noted that the cooperation potential, based on mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, has yet to be fully unleashed.
