Azerbaijani, Pakistani officials discuss expanding legal collaboration
On September 4, Azerbaijani Justice Minister Farid Ahmadov met with the newly appointed Ambassador of Pakistan, Qasim Mohiuddin.
During the meeting, the sides expressed satisfaction with the development of relations between Azerbaijan and Pakistan in the legal sphere, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The officials noted that close cooperation is being carried out on issues of extradition and the transfer of convicted persons.
Both parties emphasized the importance of their strategic partnership and agreed that mutual visits and meetings would enhance cooperation across all sectors.
The meeting also addressed the prospects for further legal cooperation and other matters of mutual interest.
Notably, over the years, since regaining its independence, Azerbaijan has enjoyed steadfast support from Pakistan, particularly in its stance on the Karabakh issue. Islamabad's backing has been a cornerstone of diplomatic relations, with cooperation extending significantly into the political and defense realms.
This alliance became particularly evident after Azerbaijan recaptured Karabakh in a 44-day war with Armenia, marking a turning point in the two countries' relations.
In the aftermath of the conflict, Baku and Islamabad have focused on expanding their economic ties, achieving remarkable progress in a relatively short span. Trade between Azerbaijan and Pakistan has seen an impressive surge. In 2020, trade turnover stood at $13.283 million.
By 2023, this figure had approached a notable $100 million, reflecting a robust growth trajectory in the economic interactions of both countries.
