A peaceful rally of activists of the Azerbaijani community living in Germany has taken place in front of the United Nations (UN) office in the city of Bonn.
Representatives of the German-Azerbaijani House of Culture, Azerbaijani doctors and scientists working in Germany took part in the action held by the Alliance of Azerbaijanis of Germany (AAG), Caliber.Az informs, citing the press service of the State Committee for Work with the Diaspora.
During the event, organised as a protest against Armenia's attempt to once again turn the UN Security Council into a tool of political, military and information-oriented manipulative campaign after 30 years of invasive policy, photo materials exposing Armenian vandalism committed in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan were presented.
By displaying slogans "Karabakh is Azerbaijan!", "We demand justice for the destruction of Karabakh's ecological environment!", "We demand justice for mine victims!", "Stop environmental terror by Armenia!", "Armenian mines kill civilians!", the protesters called on the UN Security Council to take practical steps.
“Our compatriots demanded from the UN to press Armenia to stop military and environmental terror in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, ensure the security and human rights of Azerbaijani citizens in Karabakh, and support Azerbaijan in carrying out reconstruction works,” the Committee said.
Local residents interested in the action were informed in detail about Armenia's war and environmental crimes.
The participants noted that mines laid by Armenia in the territories of Azerbaijan threaten the lives of people, pointing out that the number of mine victims in Azerbaijan has reached 303 people since the end of the 44-day war of 2020.
They also complained about the refusal by official Yerevan to provide accurate maps of minefields to the Azerbaijan side in violation of human rights.
The dissemination by the Armenian media of scattered evidence related to the mistreatment of Azerbaijanis contradicts the III Geneva Convention, the participants said.
Several Azerbaijani soldiers taken hostage by Armenia were subjected to physical and moral torture and insults, the participants said.
They said that the Armenian side is illegally exploiting gold and copper-molybdenum deposits in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, adding that more than 60,000 hectares of forest land were devastated, rivers are polluted, and other facts.
