Baku condemns Armenian provocation at Lachin border control point
The Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan has strongly condemned the military provocation of the Armenian Armed Forces against the Azerbaijani servicemen stationed at the Lachin border control point.
The statement came on June 15, according to Caliber.Az.
“This military provocation, in addition to being an aggression against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, is aimed at preventing the successful operation of the checkpoint on the Azerbaijani side; the safe, free, and unhindered passage of Armenian residents, as well as traffic along the Lachin road," the ministry said.
"This military provocation by Armenia, which cannot easily digest the free movement of Armenian residents from the exit point, is a clear example of Armenia's disinterest in building relations with Azerbaijan and the peace process.
Such military provocations by Armenia will be resolutely prevented, and Armenia's attempts to prevent the reintegration of Armenians living in Azerbaijan into our society will fail.
We call on the international community to strongly condemn this provocation by the Armenian side and to restrain Armenia from aggressive actions that threaten peace and stability in the region,” the statement says," the statement concluded.
During the flag-raising ceremony in the morning on June 15, a serviceman of the Azerbaijan State Border Service was wounded as a result of fire by the Armenian troops.
He was given first aid on the spot and immediately hospitalised.
Baku put the whole responsibility for the incident on the political-military leadership of Yerevan.
