Baku Energy Week dominates coverage in Turkish media landscape PHOTO
Turkish media outlets have widely covered the opening of the 31st Baku Energy Forum, held as part of Baku Energy Week in Azerbaijan.
Leading news agencies, television channels, newspapers, and online platforms in Türkiye reported on the official opening ceremony at the Baku Expo Centre, presenting key excerpts from the speech of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to a wide audience, according to state media.
Coverage emphasised Aliyev’s remarks on Baku’s readiness to further contribute to global energy security.
Special attention was also given to a message from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to participants of Baku Energy Week, highlighting the strategic importance of the energy partnership between Türkiye and Azerbaijan and their ongoing large-scale joint projects.
Extensive reporting also focused on remarks by Türkiye’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar during his visit to Baku, as well as the signing of an agreement on Azerbaijani natural gas supplies to Türkiye starting in 2029, with a volume of 33 billion cubic meters.
The agreement was described as part of Ankara’s ambition to strengthen its role as an energy hub and is expected to contribute to energy security not only for Türkiye but also for Europe.
Baku Energy Week is a long-running international energy platform that originated from the Caspian Oil & Gas exhibition launched in 1994, which is widely regarded as the first specialised energy exhibition in post-independence Azerbaijan.
The event is considered one of the key meeting points for global energy stakeholders, regularly attracting government officials, major energy companies, and industry experts to discuss oil, gas, and increasingly renewable energy developments.
It also serves as a platform where investment agreements, partnerships, and long-term energy cooperation projects are often discussed or signed.
