On February 19, the 15th plenary session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) began in Baku, with 280 delegates from 35 countries in attendance.
According to local reports, the session will address a range of critical global issues on its agenda, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Meanwhile, Oman has expressed its intention to become a full member of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA), while Belarus has applied for observer status.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of APA, Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Majlis (Parliament), confirmed that both countries had formally submitted their requests to the organization on February 18.
“We hope that a positive response will be given to these applications,” Gafarova stated, underscoring the significance of the development for both nations.
The APA, a key platform for parliamentary diplomacy, plays a crucial role in fostering dialogue between the legislative bodies of member nations.
