Baku Initiative Group fights back against French media bias in exclusive journalist briefing
The Baku Initiative Group (BIG) has organized a meeting with journalists from French overseas territories, providing them with an in-depth overview of the organization's activities and objectives.
The event served as a platform to showcase BIG's ongoing projects and to highlight the organization's role in various international initiatives, Caliber.Az reports citing local media.
During the meeting, BIG presented a detailed video about its international projects executed over the past two years. The gathering also featured a briefing by Abbas Abbasov, BIG Executive Director, who addressed the significant rise in cyberattacks targeting the group's website and social media accounts. Abbasov informed the attendees that external interference had escalated, with video evidence presented to substantiate these claims.
A key topic of discussion was the ongoing biased rhetoric directed at Azerbaijan and BIG by certain French officials and media outlets. Abbasov took the opportunity to refute these accusations, emphasizing that the purpose of hosting foreign journalists was to clarify and challenge the groundlessness of such statements.
In addition to the discussions, the visit included a series of meetings and specialized communication training sessions, aimed at equipping the 12 foreign media representatives with deeper insights into the region's current media landscape and strengthening their understanding of the issues at hand.
The Baku Initiative Group, an international non-governmental organization, is dedicated to fostering international partnerships in the fields of decolonization and human rights.
The organization firmly and continuously supports the struggles for freedom and independence of those living under colonial and neocolonial rule, committing to solidarity and practical assistance. Simultaneously, BIG contributes to women empowerment, human rights, environmental, and cultural issues.
