A solemn opening ceremony for the Belarus Culture Days in Azerbaijan has been held at the Heydar Aliyev Palace.
The event brought together cultural figures and general public of both countries, AZERTAC reports.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Culture Adil Karimli noted that the Belarus delegation will present an extensive program to the Baku audience.
"This event is a wonderful testimony of friendship and cultural exchange between our countries. The fact that we are gathered here today has more than just symbolic significance. It is a manifestation of deep respect for a great leader who played a key role in building relations between our countries, resulting in strong traditional ties of cooperation and mutual support. Significant decisions have been taken recently to develop cultural ties between the two countries. Discussions held during the regular visits of the presidents of Azerbaijan and Belarus have contributed to this. We enjoy a huge potential for the development of cultural cooperation," the Azerbaijani minister said.
According to him, holding culture days and other joint projects is of vital importance, as they allow the two peoples to familiarize themselves with the cultural heritage of Belarus and Azerbaijan.
In his remarks, Culture Minister of Belarus Anatoly Markevich noted that the cultural cooperation with Azerbaijan was based on deep traditions and aimed far into the future.
“We highly appreciate the achieved level, but we are well aware that there is still a very long way ahead, which will lead to the implementation of very important and large-scale joint cultural projects. It is very pleasant that the cultural sphere has the most serious impact on strengthening the friendship between our peoples," the minister said.
According to the Minister, the Belarus Culture Days in Azerbaijan will become a milestone in the cultural dialogue.
The event then featured a gala concert.
