The first online session dedicated to preparing the technical and economic feasibility study (TEFS) for the Central Asia–Azerbaijan “green” energy corridor has taken place.
The meeting included deputy ministers of energy from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan, representatives of CESI S.p.A., the Asian Development Bank, and energy companies from the three countries, Caliber.Az reports.
Orkhan Zeynalov, Deputy Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan, noted that the project will strengthen energy ties and further deepen strategic cooperation between Baku, Astana, and Tashkent.
Sungat Yesimkhanov, Deputy Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan, and Umid Mamadinov, Deputy Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan, emphasised that the Central Asia–Azerbaijan energy corridor is strategically important for regional energy integration and the transition to low-carbon energy.
The meeting focused on preparing the TEFS, which will be jointly carried out by consulting firm CESI S.p.A. and its partners—Turkey’s EPRA and the UK’s JURU. The TEFS preparation process will be supported by the Asian Development Bank and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.
