Court hearing on appeal petition of Meshali genocide culprit held in Baku
A court session has been held to consider the appeal of Vagif Khachaturyan, accused of committing genocide as part of illegal Armenian armed groups in the Meshali village of the Khojaly district.
Khachaturyan testified at the trial chaired by the judge of the Baku Court of Appeal Hasan Ahmadov, according to Report.
"I swear, I'm innocent. I do not know anyone who accuses me. The indictment says that I killed people. I wasn't there," he claimed.
Khachaturyan's lawyer Radmila Abilova, during her speech, asked the court to acquit her defendant.
Murad Huseynov, a representative of the Executive Power of the Khojaly district, acted as a victim at the trial, as well as the state prosecutor, who demanded that the appeal be rejected.
The next trial is scheduled for January 15.
