Thirteen Azerbaijani citizens, comprising nine children, one man, and three women, who were recently repatriated from Syria, have been placed in a social services facility operated by Azerbaijan's Social Services Agency.
These individuals are receiving immediate medical, social, and psychological support from the Agency, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population told Caliber.Az.
The Social Services Agency has been instrumental in providing social rehabilitation and reintegration services to approximately 550 repatriated individuals in recent years.
Notably, on June 3, thirteen Azerbaijani citizens were successfully repatriated from Syria as part of a phased and coordinated initiative led by the government of Azerbaijan.
The operation, aimed at facilitating the return of Azerbaijani nationals caught in conflict zones abroad, involved the identification and verification of the individuals’ identities and citizenship. Once confirmed, their transfer to Turkish territory was organised with the support of relevant state agencies, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry said.
Representatives from Azerbaijani governmental bodies responsible for the repatriation of citizens from conflict areas in Iraq and Syria were dispatched to Türkiye. Upon arrival, the repatriates underwent comprehensive medical and psychological evaluations to assess their condition and needs.
