Azerbaijani defence ministry staff pays tribute to national leader, martyrs VIDEO
On September 27, Remembrance Day, the leadership of the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry, along with servicemen and cadets from military institutions under the National Defence University, paid tribute to the graves of national leader Heydar Aliyev and the martyrs.
Roses were placed at Heydar Aliyev's monument in the Alley of Honour to honour his memory, the ministry told Caliber.Az.
The ministry's leadership also visited the grave of renowned ophthalmologist and academician Zarifa Aliyeva, laying roses in respect. Following this, they proceeded to the Alley of Martyrs, where flowers were laid at the graves of those who sacrificed their lives for Azerbaijan's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as at the Eternal Flame monument.
In the Second Alley of Martyrs, the Defence Ministry officials honored the heroes who gave their lives for the homeland by placing roses at their graves. Azerbaijani Defence Minister, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov and senior officials met with the families of the martyrs, inquiring about their concerns.
The families expressed gratitude for the leadership's support and attention. At 12:00 PM (GMT+4), the Defence Ministry leadership, accompanied by military personnel and the martyrs' families, observed a moment of silence at the Second Alley of Martyrs.
On September 27, Azerbaijan marks the Remembrance Day of martyrs who fell during the second Karabakh war, which was launched in response to Armenia's military provocations and actions against Azerbaijan, as well as to ensure the security of civilians.
This marks the fourth year of Remembrance Day being commemorated in Azerbaijan.
