Elements in place to ensure Azerbaijan-Armenia sustainable peace Spokesman for EU Special Representative
Henri Duquenne, the spokesperson for Toivo Klaar - the European Union's Special Representative for the South Caucasus - has said that the elements are in place to ensure a sustainable peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
According to Duquenne, the EU welcomes the continuous exchanges of draft texts on the matter between the sides - including the most recent proposals sent by Yerevan to Baku, Report informs.
“We are in constant contact with both sides and believe that following several years of negotiations and discussions between the sides, notably also at the highest level facilitated by President Michel, the elements are in place to ensure a sustainable peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Toivo Klaar is traveling often, including to the region, and will continue to do so to advance the normalisation and peace agenda,” he noted.
In a recent interview with the Armenian service of Radio Liberty, Toivo Klaar said that in his opinion, the normalisation of Azerbaijan-Armenia relations will not take much time. The EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus stressed that he supports the process of normalisation in the region and will continue to work together with Baku and Yerevan in this regard.
