Envoy: Malaysia eyes stronger educational links with Azerbaijan

29 November 2025 13:49

Azerbaijan and Malaysia are actively exploring opportunities to strengthen ties in the fields of education and student exchanges.

Ahmad Kamrizamil Mohd Riza, Malaysian Ambassador to Azerbaijan, made the remarks during an education exhibition in Baku, highlighting opportunities for studying in Malaysia.

“Currently, more than 133,000 international students from over 150 countries are studying in Malaysia. Our higher education institutions offer a wide range of programmes in key fields such as information technology (IT), engineering, business, medicine, Islamic finance and hospitality management. These programmes are offered by both public and private universities that meet strict international accreditation standards. Education is conducted mainly in English, tuition fees are affordable, and all of this takes place in a safe, multicultural environment,” the ambassador said.

Ambassador Riza emphasised the growing interest among Azerbaijani students in disciplines aligned with the digital economy, particularly computer science, IT, business, and new technologies. He added: “At the same time, we look forward to expanding academic partnerships, such as research projects and student exchange programmes, together with universities, educational institutions and agencies of Azerbaijan.”

Riza highlighted that the exhibition featured leading Malaysian universities, including Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Taylor’s University, SEGi University, and Sunway University. “These higher education institutions are widely known for their strong academic performance, innovative teaching methods, and commitment to research,” he noted.

The ambassador also underscored the support provided to Azerbaijani students, including dedicated services, clear application procedures, and advisory programmes, designed to facilitate adaptation in Malaysia and ensure access to quality education. “I invite Azerbaijani youth to choose Malaysia as an attractive and promising destination for higher education. This choice will open the door to new opportunities and experiences,” he said.

Additionally, Ambassador Riza mentioned that recent meetings have taken place regarding the possibility of Malaysian students studying at Azerbaijani universities, indicating a growing two-way exchange in educational collaboration.
