EU official highlights Nakhchivan’s potential as key logistics hub
Nakhchivan, strategically located at the heart of the global infrastructure route linking Europe and Asia, is poised to become a major logistics hub, European Union (EU) Special Representative for the South Caucasus Magdalena Grono said during her visit to the region.
Grono highlighted the strategic importance of Nakhchivan, noting the region’s historical role in connecting continents, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
"Many crucial communication lines and roads intersect here. Unfortunately, many of these roads have remained closed for many years, while at the same time being part of a once-existing conflict. The region's communication opportunities have been limited," she said.
The EU official emphasised that reopening these roads and enhancing transport and communication infrastructure would provide benefits for all countries in the region.
"It is in this context that we are here. Both the opening of roads and the establishment and expansion of relations between Europe and Asia, including Central Asian countries, are our priorities," Grono added.
