EU pledges support for Armenia’s stability, citing Moscow’s disinformation activities
EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Kaja Kallas has announced that Armenia’s Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan will be invited to the upcoming meeting of EU foreign ministers in December.
“There will be a meeting of EU foreign ministers in December. I am inviting Ararat Mirzoyan to this meeting, where issues related to strengthening Armenia’s resilience and the elections will be discussed,” Kallas said.
According to Caliber.Az, citing Armenian media, she made the remarks at a press conference in Brussels following the 6th Armenia–EU Partnership Council meeting.
Kallas described 2025 as a pivotal year for relations between the European Union and Armenia.
She highlighted the August 8 agreements reached between Armenia and Azerbaijan, noting their significance in ending a conflict that had persisted for decades. “2025 has been an important year for EU–Armenia relations. The agreements reached between Armenia and Azerbaijan on August 8, which ended a conflict that lasted for decades, are also very significant, and you have the EU’s support in this matter. The EU will do everything to support you,” she stated.
She also announced new EU financial support aimed at reinforcing Armenia’s stability. “Today I am announcing 15 million euros that will be allocated for peace and strengthening Armenia’s resilience. Several initiatives will be implemented,” Kallas said.
At the same time, she warned of growing information threats directed at Armenia ahead of the parliamentary elections. “Of course, Armenia faces other challenges as well. Ahead of the parliamentary elections, Russia and its proxies are carrying out disinformation attacks against Armenia. We are seeing the same networks that were used very actively in Moldova, the same scenario. EU funding will help identify and counter external interference,” she added.
