EU stands firm in supporting Baku-Yerevan relations Ambassador says

During an event marking Europe Day in Baku, EU Ambassador to Azerbaijan Peter Michalko reiterated the European Union's steadfast support for the progress in normalizing relations between Baku and Yerevan.

Michalko affirmed the EU's commitment to continue aiding Azerbaijan in its demining endeavors, underscoring the importance of fostering stability and reconciliation in the region, Report informs.

Ambassador Michalko highlighted the EU's significant role as Azerbaijan's primary economic partner across various sectors, including trade, foreign direct investment, and the oil industry. He emphasized the pivotal contribution of more than 400 EU companies operating in Azerbaijan, signaling the strength of the partnership between the EU and Azerbaijan in achieving mutual goals and upholding high standards, with the education sector serving as a testament to this collaboration.

In anticipation of the COP29 conference to be held this November, Michalko applauded Azerbaijan's dedication to enhancing its renewable energy capabilities, noting its crucial role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. He also lauded Azerbaijan's cooperation with several EU Member States in the Black Sea Submarine Cable project, aimed at exporting clean energy to Europe.

Furthermore, Michalko reiterated the EU's commitment to providing humanitarian aid to Azerbaijan.
