Gazprom reports 15% jump in gas supplies to Uzbekistan via Kazakhstan
Russian gas supplies to Uzbekistan via Kazakhstan increased by 15% in 2025, according to Gazprom's annual report cited by Uzbek media.
The total volume of gas transported reached 6.48 billion cubic metres in 2025, compared with 5.64 billion cubic metres a year earlier, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
Gazprom said gas deliveries to Uzbekistan in the fourth quarter of 2025 were carried out at the maximum technical capacity.
Previously, Gazprom reported that in 2025 it increased Russian gas supplies to Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan by 22.2%, while deliveries to Georgia rose by 40.4%.
In June 2023, Uzbekistan signed a gas purchase agreement with Gazprom, with supplies commencing in October of the same year. On October 16, 2025, the Russian government stated that Gazprom continued to implement its contract to supply natural gas to Uzbekistan at a volume of 7.7 billion cubic metres per year. It added that there were significant prospects for increasing gas supply volumes further.
In June 2024, Gazprom signed agreements to supply gas to Kyrgyzstan and with Kazakhstan on the transit of Russian gas to Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan for the 2025–2040 period.
In February 2024, it was reported that the Uzbek government intended to modernise the country's main gas transmission system in order to increase gas imports from the Russian Federation by 3.5 times, from 9 million to 32 million cubic metres per day.
