Georgia to temporarily close border with Russia
The Revenue Service of the Georgian Finance Ministry has said that the Georgian authorities will temporarily close the Kazbegi Customs Checkpoint on the border with Russia on August 6 from 5:00 to 10:00 (GMT+4) for technical work.
"The customs control procedures at the Kazbegi checkpoint will be suspended due to ongoing technical work (renewal of the new automatic backup power distribution network) on August 6 from 5:00 to 10:00," Caliber.Az reports citing the Russian media.
“During this period, the import and export of goods, as well as procedures related to the control of individuals crossing the border, will be unavailable. The checkpoint will resume activity after the completion of the repair work,” the statement says.
"Kazbegi - Upper Lars" is the only operational customs checkpoint on the Georgian-Russian border.
