Georgian lawmaker announces exit from politics
Beka Liluashvili, a member of Georgia’s opposition party Gakharia for Georgia, has announced that he is leaving the political arena and plans to pursue a career in the private sector.
In a statement shared on social media, Liluashvili said that with the start of the New Year he is “officially closing” a long chapter of public policy and political engagement. He described the decision as a transition rather than a withdrawal from public life, emphasising that public interests will continue to guide his work, Caliber.Az reports, citing Georgian media.
Liluashvili expressed gratitude for the experience and trust he received during his years in public service, noting that the period provided deep insights into Georgia, its people, and his own professional development. He also thanked colleagues and supporters who accompanied him throughout his political career.
Looking ahead, Liluashvili said his professional focus will shift to the private sector, particularly in technology, digital transformation, finance, and economics. He argued that lasting and sustainable change can also be achieved by building strong companies and supporting sectors that drive economic growth.
