Guadeloupean liberation union condemns France's human rights violations Calls for international support
The People's Union for the Liberation of Guadeloupe (UPLG) has issued a strong condemnation of France's human rights violations and has urged the international community to take notice.
In a statement released in Baku, the UPLG declared, “No to intimidation and threats from the French police against UPLG and its Secretary General!” This follows the recent arrest and detention of Secretary General Jean-Jacob Bicep at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris upon his return from discussions at the UN Geneva, where human rights violations in French-controlled territories were addressed, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
The statement highlighted that Bicep previously faced a travel ban that prevented him from entering the United States after transiting through Martinique, further illustrating what the UPLG describes as a systematic suppression of their rights.
The organization insists it will continue to inform the global community about these issues and demands recognition of its right to self-determination and national independence. The UPLG also called on the people of Guadeloupe, along with all patriotic and anti-colonial groups, to denounce actions that seek to silence those advocating for sovereignty and independence.
“Long live a free and independent Guadeloupe! We will win!” the statement concluded.
