Iran receives Russian Mi-28NE attack helicopters Photo
Photos recently circulated show Russian-made Mi-28NE attack helicopters, also known by their NATO code name “Havoc,” in Iran.
One image depicts a Mi-28NE in digital camouflage similar to the scheme displayed at Russia’s Army 2018 forum. The helicopter in the photo lacks rotor blades, and sensitive areas are covered, suggesting it may have been recently transported. Observers claim this is one of the Russian helicopters that has arrived in Iran, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.
Earlier this month, an Iranian journalist from the Tasnim news agency released a photo of a Mi-28NE in desert camouflage, fueling speculation about the helicopters’ delivery to the country.
The Mi-28N first flew in 1996 and is designed for both reconnaissance and engagement of ground and low-speed aerial targets. The attack helicopter is armed with a 30mm 2A42 automatic cannon and can carry a variety of weaponry, including anti-tank missiles and air-to-air ammunition.
