Iran says no immediate plans for further talks with US
Iran has no current plans to hold another round of negotiations with the United States, according to Esmail Baqaei, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran.
“At this point, we have no plans to hold the next round of talks,” Baqaei said during a press conference, amid continued uncertainty over whether diplomatic engagement between Tehran and Washington will resume, Caliber.Az reports per Iranian media.
Iran has accused the United States of failing to take diplomacy seriously, pointing to repeated violations of a ceasefire agreement. Baqaei said Washington’s actions—including alleged breaches related to Lebanon and what he characterised as efforts to impose a naval blockade on Iran—have undermined trust.
“Through its contradictory behaviour and constant violations of the ceasefire, the United States has shown that it is not committed to diplomatic dialogue,” he said.
Baqaei also described recent U.S. actions, including what he referred to as an attack on an Iranian merchant vessel, as a “clear act of aggression” in violation of United Nations resolutions.
“This clear contradiction between words and deeds reinforces the Iranian people’s distrust of U.S. intentions,” he added, noting that any decision on future negotiations would be made in line with Iran’s national interests.
