Iran says working groups established to prepare final agreement with US
Working groups have been established to oversee implementation of a memorandum of understanding and prepare a final agreement between the US and Iran, although formal negotiations have yet to begin, Iran's deputy foreign minister Kazem Gharibabadi said on July 1.
Gharibabadi made the remarks after holding talks in Doha with Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Qatar's prime minister, as well as Pakistani negotiators, according to IRIB News.
Gharibabadi said consultations are continuing through intermediaries to determine the timing and venue of meetings for the newly established working groups. He added that formal negotiations would begin only after the necessary conditions had been put in place.
Following the bilateral meetings, representatives of Iran, Qatar and Pakistan held a trilateral session in Doha to review progress in implementing the provisions of the memorandum of understanding.
The meetings come as diplomatic efforts continue to advance discussions aimed at reaching a final agreement between Washington and Tehran, with mediators working to facilitate the next stage of the process.
