Iranian top diplomat to visit Armenia for key talks
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is scheduled to visit Yerevan on March 24 for crucial discussions with Armenian officials.
The visit, announced by Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baqaei, is part of Iran's ongoing diplomatic efforts to strengthen ties with neighboring countries and engage in dialogue over regional developments, Caliber.Az reports via Iranian media.
Araghchi, invited by Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, will hold talks with his counterpart as well as meet with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and other senior officials. The discussions are expected to focus on deepening bilateral relations and addressing key regional issues, including the latest developments in the Caucasus region.
This visit follows a recent telephone conversation between Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Prime Minister Pashinyan, in which both leaders stressed the importance of regional peace and stability, particularly among neighboring countries.
A notable event during Araghchi's visit will be the presentation of the Armenian version of his book, “The Power of Negotiations”. The foreword to this edition was penned by Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan. The book's translation was supported by the Iranian Embassy in Armenia, further strengthening the cultural and diplomatic ties between the two nations.
Iran and Armenia have maintained strong diplomatic relations since establishing ties in 1992. Over the years, their bilateral cooperation has grown steadily, particularly in the fields of trade, energy, and security, with both nations committed to enhancing their partnership in various sectors.
