IRGC Navy says foreign powers have no role in Strait of Hormuz
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy said on Thursday that foreign countries have no role in the Strait of Hormuz, warning that any US involvement in managing shipping routes could hinder the gradual reopening of the strategic waterway.
It cautioned against what it described as potential American "intervention" in maritime traffic, Caliber.Az reports, citing Iranian International.
The force noted that vessel movements through the Strait had recovered to around 50% of pre-conflict levels and that capacity was being expanded for ships granted permission to use routes designated by Iran.
The IRGC Navy further warned that any attempt by the US military to dictate shipping lanes would trigger "a crushing response" and threaten the interests of countries relying on the passage for trade and energy exports.
IRGC's statement comes amid renewed tensions between the United States and Iran.
Earlier, the US military said it struck about 90 targets across Iran after Trump said the interim deal with Tehran is over for him, citing Iranian attacks on shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
