Israeli company to launch new Azerbaijani satellite into orbit
The Space Agency under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transportation (Azerkosmos) has launched a project to put into orbit a new satellite for remote sensing of the Earth, Samaddin Asadov, chairman of the agency said.
"This does not mean that the new satellite will be ready immediately. This process takes several years. We assume that in 2025-2026 our new satellite will be put into orbit," he noted, Report informs.
The representative of Azerkosmos added that the winner of the tender was one of the Israeli companies: "More than 20 companies from Europe, Asia and the United States took part in the tender, among which the best Israeli company, which is a world leader in this field, was chosen in terms of price and quality. We will disclose the name of the company in a statement that we will publish."
In April this year Azerbaijan's only remote sensing satellite "Azersky" completed its mission one year ahead of its estimated lifetime.
