Kazakh president calls for unity, vigilance amid global uncertainty
Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has called for stronger unity and vigilance within the country’s key institutions, warning that internal rivalries and inefficiencies could undermine national interests amid global uncertainty.
Speaking at a high-level meeting of the Financial Monitoring Agency (AFM), he emphasized the importance of coordination, professional integrity, and unwavering commitment to Kazakhstan’s sovereignty, Caliber.Az reports, citing Kazakh media.
Tokayev highlighted the critical responsibilities of the AFM, emphasizing that the agency must enhance coordination with key state bodies, including the General Prosecutor’s Office, the National Security Committee, and other law enforcement authorities such as the Ministry of Internal Affairs. He stressed that these institutions must work reciprocally with the AFM to ensure efficient governance.
“You bear a high level of responsibility. Duplication of functions, unhealthy competition, and rivalry harm the state’s interests. This is doubly dangerous in the current environment of global strategic uncertainty. We must not give our opponents or ill-wishers any reason to damage Kazakhstan’s national interests,” Tokayev said.
The president also emphasized the overarching importance of independence and professional integrity. “I often say: ‘Independence comes above all.’ This is something all of us—and the AFM staff—must remember at all times. Each of you must first and foremost be a responsible citizen and a professional in your work. Your duty is to uphold honor and remain faithful to your oath. The principle of ‘Law and Order’ is not an empty slogan but a guide to action,” he added.
