Kazakh president praises growing economic cooperation with Russia
Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said Russia remains the largest investor in Kazakhstan among all partner countries, highlighting the scale of economic cooperation between the two states during talks in Astana.
Tokayev noted that Kazakhstan has invested more than $29 billion, while the two countries are currently implementing 177 joint projects with a combined investment volume of nearly $53 billion, Kazinform reports.
According to the Kazakh president, 122 of those projects have already entered the operational phase and are fully functioning.
Tokayev said the projects reflect the strong commitment of both countries to deepen bilateral cooperation and correspond to the fundamental interests of Kazakhstan and Russia.
The remarks came during the state visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Kazakhstan.
Earlier, a ceremonial reception for Putin was held at the Palace of Independence in Astana following his arrival in Kazakhstan at the invitation of President Tokayev on May 27.
