Kazakhstan extends ban on wheat imports until year-end
The government of Kazakhstan has extended the ban on wheat imports by all modes of transport until the end of this year.
"The ban on wheat imports to the territory of Kazakhstan by all kinds of transport is renewed until the end of this year. The threat remains of wheat imports to the country by gray schemes and its re-export by motor transport from border regions of the Russian Federation. Forecasts for the grain harvest were also taken into account, which is expected to be higher than last year in Kazakhstan," Caliber.Az reports via a statement from the government’s press service.
The temporary ban on wheat imports has been in effect since April 12, 2024. This measure aims to curb illegal imports and re-exports, as well as to stabilize the domestic grain market in light of an anticipated higher harvest this year.
