Kazakhstan, FBI discuss expanding cooperation in fight against cybercrime
Kazakhstan and the United States have discussed expanding cooperation in the fight against cybercrime and transnational organised crime during a meeting between Kazakh Interior Minister Yerzhan Sadenov and a senior FBI official in New York.
According to Kazakh media, Sadenov held talks with James Barnacle, head of the FBI’s New York office, as part of his working visit to the US and participation in the UN Police Chiefs Summit, Kazakhstan’s Interior Ministry said.
During the meeting, the two sides explored ways to enhance cooperation between their law enforcement agencies, including the use of digital technologies, the exchange of expertise and the training of specialists to address emerging security threats.
At the UN summit, Sadenov outlined Kazakhstan’s priorities in strengthening international security, developing police peacekeeping initiatives and countering transnational criminal networks and cyber threats.
The Kazakh delegation also visited the FBI’s Joint Operations Centre, where officials reviewed mechanisms for coordinating responses to crisis situations involving multiple agencies.
Kazakhstan’s Interior Ministry described the UN Police Chiefs Summit as a key platform for developing international partnerships among law enforcement bodies and improving cooperation on global security challenges.
