Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan discuss inter-parliamentary cooperation
Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan have discussed the expansion of inter-parliamentary cooperation during a visit by Marlen Mamataliyev, chairman of the Kyrgyz Jogorku Kenesh (parliament).
Marlen Mamataliyev met with the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, for talks focused on strengthening bilateral ties, Caliber.Az reports, citing Kazakh media.
Tokayev emphasised the importance of Mamataliyev’s first official visit to Kazakhstan, saying it would give momentum to the development of relations.
“There are no contradictions or disagreements between our countries. We will continue to strengthen good-neighbourly relations. Kyrgyzstan’s economy is developing at a high pace, and we support this positive trend. The election of the Kyrgyz Republic as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council is a truly historic event both for Kyrgyzstan and for the entire Central Asia,” he added.
Mamataliyev thanked Tokayev for the reception and conveyed greetings from Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, noting support for reforms in Kazakhstan and wishing the country success.
The sides also discussed the development of inter-parliamentary ties and the implementation of agreements reached at the highest level.
