Kremlin optimistic about upcoming Putin–Aliyev meeting in Dushanbe
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has said that the Russian side is optimistic about the upcoming meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
Peskov says he expects the leaders will discuss all outstanding issues in bilateral relations, Caliber.Az reports per TASS.
“Right now we are talking about Putin’s state visit to Tajikistan. We have a very extensive agenda. Separately, of course, there is the question of Russian–Azerbaijani relations,” he told journalists.
“An agreement has been reached for the two presidents to meet today. We will see the results of this meeting. We are optimistic in this regard. We expect that the presidents will discuss the current state of our bilateral relations and address the problematic issues that exist,” the Kremlin representative added.
For the record, Putin and Aliyev agreed to the meeting during a positive and constructive phone call on October 7. The meeting, which is to be held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, on October 9, will coincide with the CIS Heads of State Summit on October 10, 2025, hosted by Tajik President Emomali Rahmon.
