Media: Tehran signals end to talks if Israel expands Lebanon operation
Iran has threatened to halt negotiations with the United States amid the possible expansion of Israel’s operation against Hezbollah.
Iran has sent a signal to the United States, warning of the risk of a complete collapse of the negotiation process if Israel expands its operation against Hezbollah in Lebanon.
According to Israeli media, the Iranian side made it clear to American intermediaries that Israeli strikes on the southern districts of Beirut could undermine diplomatic efforts to end the conflict and return the region to large-scale escalation.
The warning comes amid reports that Israel is preparing to expand military operations on the northern front. According to sources, a scenario involving a time-limited operation against Hezbollah facilities in the Dahieh area is being considered. It is also reported that Israeli forces have made at least two attempts to eliminate the militant group’s Secretary-General Naim Qassem.
Hezbollah itself has stated that increasing pressure from Israel only confirms the futility of negotiations. Representatives of the group argue that the situation demonstrates the impossibility of a political settlement at the current stage.
The United States, for its part, has effectively supported Israel’s right to respond. American officials emphasised that Israel will react to threats against its citizens and military.
