Media: Türkiye says Armenian border reopening depends on Baku-Yerevan peace process
Türkiye has no fixed date for opening its border with Armenia, a Turkish diplomatic source told Russian media, adding that the process would move in step with peace efforts between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
The source said President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had made clear that the normalisation of relations between Ankara and Yerevan would proceed in parallel with talks aimed at resolving the decades-long conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
According to the source, Türkiye viewed recent developments positively and believed a peace agreement between the two South Caucasus nations would benefit the entire region.
On August 8, the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan and the United States signed a joint declaration at the White House on the peaceful settlement of relations between Yerevan and Baku.
The agreement marks a significant milestone in the pursuit of reconciliation and cooperation in the South Caucasus.
